The El Dorado Women's Center serves victims of  domestic violence and sexual assault in El Dorado County, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Last year volunteers gave well over 6,000 hours of service to clients of the Center.

Volunteer Opportunities

Peer Counselor/Crisis Line Counselor:
Opportunities available Monday-Friday evenings, Saturdays and Sundays. Takes crisis line calls at home (beeper available).  Facilitates groups with prior crisis line or facilitation experience.

bulletLegal Advocate:
Assists clients with the legal system Monday-Friday from 9am-5pm. Criminal Court, Civil Court and Mediation accompaniment as needed.  Dissolution Clinic, last Tuesday of each month 6:30pm to 9:30pm.
bulletShelter Advocate:
Opportunities Monday-Sunday, days and evenings.  Children's advocates and women's advocates work with shelter clients.
bulletOffice Worker:
Opportunities available Monday-Friday 9am-5pm.  Assist  office staff with telephones, filing, copying and word processing.
bulletCo-facilitator for Men's Alternatives to Abusive Patterns (MAAP):
Co-facilitate groups in the evenings with men who are attempting to change their pattern of abusive behavior.
bulletLatino Outreach: 
Use your bilingual skill to work with and assist the Latina Outreach Advocate.  Experience working in all volunteer positions with the Spanish speaking population.
bulletSpecial Projects:
Assist with projects such as quarterly newsletter mailings, community events and updating resource material.
bulletFundraising Committee:
Works with staff and Board on special fundraising events.
bulletCommunity Education:
Day and evenings. Provides presentations to schools, community groups and service providers.  Participate in special projects and activities to educate community on domestic violence and sexual assault issues. 

ALL VOLUNTEERS WORKING DIRECTLY WITH CLIENTS MUST COMPLETE A VOLUNTEER TRAINING PROGRAM OF APPROXIMATELY 67 HOURS.  Those members of the community wishing additional information on domestic violence or sexual assault may attend partial sessions of the training.
