When to call 911

Call 911 for emergency assistance if you are being threatened or battered or can see or hear a violent incident.  Also, make sure that your children know when and how to dial 911 in an emergency.  They will need to say what is happening and give your street address and apartment number.

When to call 24 hour Crisis Line (530)626-1131

Call the El Dorado Woman's Center at (530) 626-1131 for information, counseling and support in cases of domestic violence and sexual assault (24 hours). Do you suspect that someone is suffering abuse?  Need advice on what to say or do?  Want referrals for medical and legal aid?  Just want to talk?  You don't need to give your name.  Experienced staff take all calls and collect calls are welcomed.

The El Dorado Women's Center provide the following emergency services: 

bulletCrisis Counseling - Individual sessions and support groups are available. 
bulletFood & Clothing 
bulletHospital Accompaniment - If you are raped or battered and need assistance  in getting medical care, a member of the El Dorado Women's Center will accompany you to the hospital.
bulletShelter - Short-term safe residence for battered women and their children.
bulletEmergency Transportation

The El Dorado Women's Center is a nonprofit, community-based agency supported by public monies, United Way, client fees and local individuals and groups.  Client fees are charged only for legal assistance and no client is ever refused service due to inability to pay.
